The movie looks great, love the use of colors here. And Kaitlyn Denver does amazing in this role that depends entirely on expression and not words ## Ending And Movie Meaning There's a nice discussion on reddit about the movie: [What does the ending to no one will save you mean to you? : r/horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/horror/comments/16q6wkt/what_does_the_ending_to_no_one_will_save_you_mean/) Some highlights: > [!spoilers]- > She chose to live in peaceful artificial happiness with the aliens instead of a world that refused to forgive her. > [!spoilers]- > The aliens were able to see from her perspective, to truly empathize with her like no human had in ten years. She earned their respect by surviving and their understanding. > I also got the sense that the aliens weren’t inherently malicious - they would get angry and violent, but the goal wasn’t to hurt humans. From their point of view, they’re giving humans a blissful coexistence in the hive mind. Their reaction to her attacking them is more like “what is your problem, why are you resisting this?!” > So, they chose to keep her as the last independent human being. > [!spoilers]- > I think it's because they realize in their "perfect world" for her she get's Maude back. The knowledge and trauma of killing her is so deep that she would always know it's fake. In the real world, she just wants to be accepted back in the town and forgiven for an accident as a kid, the humans won't do that. It's easier for the aliens to not assimilate her with the parasite but to just give her a life where people don't scorn or shame her and feel included. > [!spoilers]- > Now, I don’t always look too deep into things unless it is important but for this Movie, I’ll make an exception. With Bryn (The Girl, I think) being outcasted by the whole town for an accident that happened 10 years ago (Maude’s mother literally spat on her. My anger issues could never-) and was never forgiven or given a second chance, she blames herself and still grieves for her friend. The aliens, who don’t seem too violent in nature, are trying to understand grief and its purpose, because they don’t seem to grieve their own. Once they learn, they ultimately give her the respect she hadn’t had in a long time, controlling the people that won’g forgive. In a way, saving her from grief. And considering aliens are considered as non-human or ‘No One..’…No One Will Save You ? Huh ? I doubt I’m the first person to come up with this but here is my explanation. > [!spoilers]- > Polygon had an excellent take on it as a take on the millennial experience. Check that out. > My take is.... > Everything we know...But the obvious is brynn (?) is a natural born killers. So she is really good at unintentionally killing ...everyone who threatens her. She killed her friend and maybe her mum and she kills atleast 3 aliens and her own clone. And prob more by accident. It's as if brynn already has something Inside her which is why she doesn't need anything else in her. And she's even better at killing than her clone or an alien parasite which likely is a professional killer. > We see brynn able to forgive herself when her clone dies and comfort her self in memory and apologise to her friend who she killed and basically resolve her trauma freeing herself for her own imprisonment. > Brynn likely went to a remand home for child killers but was allowed out at 18 years or 23 or however old she is. She's likely only been out a year or so. And that's why the film is silent or has no dialogue. Because brynn has no words due to trauma and other people only have spit for her when she tries to speak. Ironically at the end she doesn't need words as the aliens can't speak human languages so all is well. > Regarding the end. The alien collective see that brynn is a broken person who kills everyone close to her and maybe they can relate. Either way they except that she will reject everything and is better at killing then them so they allow her to live among them. > They don't begrudge the lives she takes ...even the aliens...Because their society seems one where the strongest survive. And or they have or are clones as seen with their perfect insta clone of brynn. > Why do the aliens invade only to behave like better versions of us while trapping us in a mental paradise? Who knows...They're aliens! Lol But it's likely a race which understands humans through walking in their shoes. It might be temporary until they know us. Westfield season 3 was about ai doing exactly that. > These aliens want to know us better... maybe to understand us... and so take something from us which might help them elsewhere. Remember they are a conquest species who are adept at taking over entire races. So likely we're not the first or the last. Like BORG they assimilate to become perfect. > OR they maybe they make a small world for brynn because she is a fighter who fought and won and so they respect that. Maybe their law forces then to gift her a dream of acceptance... > The other reading is... possibly that the grey aliens are all clones and soldiers of their elders and or another race. We see someone giving then orders. Possibly the parasites? And so the soldiers are disposable and having a town of them for brynn is a worthy experiment ...or of no bother. > OR maybe the parasites are the REAL invaders and have already conquered the grey aliens and now control them or maybe they're symbiotic. The latter because one alien coughs one up and is still alive and in control while the parasites takes over brynn. If the parasites are in control they're totally alien so their goals are unknowable....:-O > It is possible that only this town is taken over ....and so they have to keep a deep cover until a larger invasions begin but the day flying sauces kind of debunks that theory lol > It is even possible that brynn never beats the parassite and when she is caught that's it...And all we see is a dream while the parasites assumes her identity. > Possibly the squids live with humans or feed off them. Though its likely symbiotic as with the greys. > It could be ....that the parasites and or the greys simply want to be friends with every species to prevent future war... So they use the parasites to connect every species in the galaxy. That's why they all go about the human host lives. And the greys are going about their lives etc. And there will never be conflict as everyone us happy and peaceful :) > There are likley other humans like brynn who fought back and or special and so are allowed to live free. Maybe they'll meet up but any dissent would likely end in a parasite or clone or death.\ > Ultimately Brynn is happy with any race ..alien or human who accepts her. That is her only goal. She needs acceptance...And love and companionship. > My only question is ... her friend died in 2009 and her mum in 2022 and it's 2023 so did her mum kill herself or did brynn kill her or just illness.
