*I'm not a big fan of taking lots of pictures, and I don't like to ask people to take their photos.*
Recently I've attended Aniventure, an anime convention I always enjoy going to, and I noticed one thing: I only took one photo.
My wife did take a few: some of us, another with two youtubers (just her and some friends, I was taking the pic) and, of course, the cosplay contest.
I'm not usually into taking pictures, and this got me wondering why did I take just that one.
The question actually is: which cosplays do I really enjoy seeing at conventions?
Of course, there are the sexy cosplays, made by beautiful (and hot) women, and the ones that surely took a lot of effort to make,
usually from games, and involving a lot of armor and big weapons.
But, as far as effort and beauty (or sexiness) go, the one that truly got me was a Tohru cosplay, from Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon.
To be clear, I'm not saying or implying that the cosplayer is not beautiful, I'm just stating that it wasn't the beauty that made me appreciate it.
Also, I'm not saying that I don't appreciate a beautiful cosplay or a very well done armor, because it would be hypocritical of me to say that.
The biggest part of my cosplay feeds (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) consists of hot girls cosplaying with little cover. And just few armor/weapon focused cosplays from time to time.
But one thing is what we like to see on the internet when looking at professional photos of pro cosplayers.
Another is what we (or I, at least) like to see at conventions, where we (hopefully) end up meeting more people just like us:
fans who use their free time to enjoy anime, manga, Japanese music and that like to share their passion and recommend content that they love to everybody they know.
So in the end, I took a photo of the only Kobayashi-san's Dragon Maid cosplay there. It was well done, a character that I like, from an anime that I really enjoyed watching each week.
It's not near the difficulty of a League of Legends cosplay, and also not a closet cosplay.
In the end, I didn't care if she made it all by herself, had help, or just bought it online.
Knowing that there's more love for Tohru out there is enough of a reason for me to be happy.
Of course, there were some other cosplays that I wanted to take a pic, but as I stated before, I'm not a big fan of taking lots of pictures, and I don't like to ask people to take their photos.
I may have taken a selfie with a few cosplayers, for example, but for me, it's hard to do it. I don't really know why.
But that's something for another post.
